Job summary

Snohomish County Public Works is seeking a Solid Waste Maintenance Technician I to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair solid waste equipment and facilities across seven sites. The role includes fabricating metal parts, performing carpentry work, and repairing plumbing fixtures while working with welding tools and heavy equipment.

The position offers a safety-first environment with access to modern facilities, tools, and protective gear.

Qualifications

• One year of experience operating equipment or tools in building maintenance or industrial mechanical work.
• Six months experience or familiarity with steel welding and cutting.
• Ability to pass job-related proficiency tests for mechanical, carpentry, plumbing and welding.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, service and maintain hydraulic and mechanical systems on solid waste equipment.
• Fabricate and repair metal structures using welding and cutting tools.
• Perform carpentry tasks and repair plumbing fixtures and pipes.
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment as directed.
• Assist with general maintenance across seven facilities.
