Job summary

Mariposa Public Works is seeking a Maintenance Worker I/II-Solid Waste, a full-time position responsible for solid waste and recycling tasks at the Mariposa County facilities, including the landfill, recycle center, and transfer stations.

The job requires basic maintenance skills, performance of data entry, and customer interaction with the public. A valid California driver's license is required; a Class B license is desirable and may be needed within six months.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in the solid waste and recycling industry or building and grounds maintenance with public interaction.
• Two years of experience for Maintenance Worker II-Solid Waste; some computer/small tool experience.
• Possession of a valid California driver’s license; Class B license desirable.

Responsibilities

• Visually checks loads for unsuitable materials.
• Sorts solid waste and recyclables for processing.
• Maintains and repairs buildings, equipment, and leachate collection system.
• Operates forklifts and loaders; reads scale printouts.
• Collects data, maintains databases, and completes forms for tracking and billing.
• Provides information to the public on disposal methods and recycling options.
• Performs custodial duties as assigned.
