Job summary

The Municipality of Anchorage's Solid Waste Services is seeking a Refuse Disposal Maintenance Assistant to perform unskilled manual tasks at the Central Transfer Station, Anchorage Regional Landfill, and the Material Recovery Facility. The role requires working four 10-hour shifts with days to be determined.

Responsibilities include litter pickup, grounds maintenance, snow removal, traffic control, pipe assembly, and assisting skilled staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have physical capability to perform the work described.

Responsibilities

• Litter pickup and grounds maintenance (mowing, weed whacking, shoveling, painting, etc.).
• Operate snow blower and sander truck.
• Perform traffic control at Central Transfer Station, ARL, and MRF to direct customers and reduce congestion.
• Assemble gas collection system pipe with hand tools.
• Operate skid steers and mini loaders for snow removal and site cleaning.
• Assist skilled employees as needed in maintenance duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
