Job summary

Solid Waste Management in Albuquerque, NM is hiring a laborer to perform a wide range of manual tasks supporting City facilities and operations. The role includes construction and maintenance work, janitorial duties, and assistance to skilled staff across parks, streets, and open spaces.

You will assist in installing and maintaining irrigation, walls, fences, and trails; operate trucks and equipment on assigned routes; help with waste collection and litter control; and follow safe work

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of general maintenance or construction experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of manual labor tasks in support of assigned function including construction and maintenance of City facilities, structures or open space areas, janitorial and grounds maintenance duties.
• Assist in the construction of park facilities: shade structures, fencing, play area equipment; install forms, shovel concrete, tie re-bar, block walls.
• Perform janitorial and custodial duties: sweep, mop, vacuum carpets, clean restrooms and windows.
• Assist warehouse staff with receiving, unpacking, storing and distributing supplies; assist with inventory control.
• Support street maintenance: check pavement holes, prepare holes for asphalt, tamp fill, assist with manholes and inlets.
• Maintain open space areas: collect trash, install gates, posts, signs and flags.
• Assist in irrigation systems installation/maintenance; dig trenches.
• Assist in the construction of trails and erosion control devices.
• Operate solid waste vehicles and assist in collections; pick up hazardous waste as required.
