Job summary

The City of Loveland is seeking a skilled solid waste collection driver to operate automated side-load and rear-load trucks on assigned routes. You will ensure safe curbside service for residents, monitor carts, and report mechanical issues.

This role requires a valid Class B CDL, the ability to work in all weather, and commitment to safety. Workweek typically four 10-hour days; overtime and on-call as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience operating solid waste collection equipment or large tandem axle vehicles preferred.
• Must possess a valid Class B commercial driver's license with no air brake restriction.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate with City staff and the public.
• Ability to learn multiple routes and equipment.
• Proficiency in operating tandem-axle trucks and basic mechanical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Operates automated side-load, tandem-axle collection truck with awareness of pedestrians and traffic.
• Provides curbside collection service to approximately 1,000 homes per day.
• Operates onboard routing computer, cameras, and two-way radio.
• Works in all weather and road conditions and maintains daily paperwork.
• Inspects and maintains assigned truck; reports mechanical issues promptly.
• Interacts with customers and residents; distributes policy reminders as needed.
• Maintains communication with supervisors and other drivers; ensures routes are completed daily.
