Job summary

City of Houston is seeking a Sideloader Operator in the Solid Waste Management Department to operate a side loader or rear loader on assigned routes and perform daily truck inspections. You will handle collection of yard waste, heavy trash, recyclables and garbage and assist residents with pickup times and container questions.

The role is essential during disaster recovery, requires a valid Class A or B CDL, and a clean driving record, with weekend and holiday availability as needed.

Qualifications

• Three months of driving experience with a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Must have a valid Class A or B CDL and a clear driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operate a side loader or rear loader truck on assigned routes.
• Perform daily pre-, mid-, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
• Collect yard waste, heavy trash, recyclables and garbage; assist residents with questions.
• Answer citizens' questions regarding contents, packing weight, and pickup times.
