Job summary

Kimmel & Associates' client, a leading renewable energy developer, seeks a Project Engineer – Solar + Energy Storage to support development through construction and operations of utility-scale projects. The role requires collaborating across development, engineering, procurement, and construction to ensure technically sound execution.

We seek an Electrical Engineer with 4–12 years' experience in solar and storage, familiar with LGIA, interconnections, and EPC documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related with applicable utility-scale renewable energy experience.
• 4–12 years of engineering experience in utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, or renewables.
• Experience across development through commissioning and operations.
• Strong knowledge of HV systems and major equipment procurement.
• Experience leading due diligence and EPC oversight.
• Familiarity with LGIA, interconnection studies, and utility coordination.
• Analytical and communication skills with a reliable employment history.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support through full project lifecycle from greenfield to commercial operation.
• Lead technical due diligence for utility-scale solar and battery storage projects.
• Develop engineering specs, one-line diagrams, and EPC exhibits.
• Coordinate engineering activities during project execution and design optimization.
• Evaluate alternatives to improve performance, constructability, and cost.
• Assist with EPC contractor selection and reviewing technical proposals.
• Assist with equipment specification and major electrical procurement.
• Coordinate integration between owner-furnished and EPC systems.
• Support interconnection activities with utilities and ISOs.
• Assist with interconnection agreements and transmission studies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver on schedule and budget.
