Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Quality Engineer I or II to lead Project Quality Plan (PQP) implementation on assigned Solar projects. You will monitor quality performance, drive corrective actions, and collaborate with engineers, technicians, and subcontractors to meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities include NCR/RFI management, project quality audits, and training staff on Mortenson's Quality System. Travel 25–50% (up to 75% at peak), with location based on home base in the continental US;

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum one year of experience in design, engineering, manufacturing, or construction.
• Solar or renewables experience preferred.
• Current driver's license.
• Ability to conduct constructability and design document reviews.
• Knowledge of EPC contracts and design-bid-build process.
• Strong knowledge of solar mechanical and electrical scopes.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Procore, Build Cognition and ArcGIS.
• Strong teamwork and communication, open to diverse input.

Responsibilities

• Foster teamwork and promote diversity on projects.
• Serve as technical resource and coach project team staff.
• Implement and support Project Quality Plan and 3-Phase Process.
• Monitor QA inspections and identify non-conformances.
• Manage NCRs and RFIs through corrective actions.
• Conduct Project Quality Assessments and drive corrective actions.
• Train project personnel on Mortenson's Quality System.
• Resolve technical issues with customers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
• Capture best practices and seek margin/risk improvements.
• Write and maintain procedures and standard work.
• Verify punch-list closeout and closeout verifications.
• Support preconstruction planning, golden-row installation, and supplier/factory activities.
