Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Solar Farm Technician II to install, operate, maintain, and repair solar systems, ensuring reliability and regulatory compliance. You will diagnose issues, coordinate with engineers, and lead maintenance activities while prioritizing safety and efficiency.

The role requires strong electrical/mechanical knowledge, SCADA proficiency, and the ability to work outdoors at solar sites with on-call responsibilities. A HS diploma and renewable energy training are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree or renewable energy tech/cert preferred.
• Minimum 3+ years in renewable energy tech preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying weather.
• Strong knowledge of solar PV systems and SCADA.
• Read and interpret electrical & mechanical drawings.
• Follow OSHA LOTO safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead solar O&M activities safely using site procedures and LOTO practices.
• Provide safety leadership by identifying hazards and coaching peers.
• Ensure EH&S compliance by interpreting regulations and correcting non-compliant conditions.
• Independently maintain, troubleshoot, and repair solar PV systems and components.
• Analyze SCADA data and alarms to identify root causes and implement actions.
• Coordinate with Site Leads and Engineers to resolve high-risk issues.
• Plan and sequence preventive and corrective maintenance to optimize performance.
• Lead inspections, testing, and commissioning to verify performance and compliance.
• Maintain SAP work orders and inspection findings for audits and asset management.
• Mentor Associate and Trainee technicians through hands-on guidance.
