Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Sr Solar Farm Technician to safely install, operate, maintain, and repair solar PV systems and inverters in California. This field-based role emphasizes hazard recognition, energy isolation, and leadership in maintenance planning to ensure reliable power generation.

The position requires strong technical knowledge, ability to work an on-call schedule, and readiness to travel between RWE field locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree or equivalent certification in renewable energy technology or electrical systems preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, with technical leadership roles preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all Operations and Maintenance activities are performed safely per site policies and procedures.
• Assist in acceptance and performance tests after planned maintenance or outages.
• Perform safety and wind-farm related tasks and back up personnel at other RWE sites when necessary.
• Assist with inverter maintenance including services, major component work and troubleshooting.
• Assist with Balance of Plant procedures, including substation and collection system maintenance.
• Troubleshoot complex system and subsystem failures using advanced diagnostic techniques.
• Perform repairs to ensure optimal functionality and minimize downtime.
• Develop maintenance plans to ensure systems operate smoothly and efficiently.
• Collaborate to plan maintenance schedules and optimize resource allocation.
• Provide technical mentorship and strategic guidance across staff levels.
