Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee the safe, efficient operation of solar PV farms near Welkom, Free State. You will lead O&M activities, optimize energy production, and ensure regulatory compliance while managing budgets and stakeholder communications.

The role requires 6+ years in operations, with 3+ in solar PV, and a strong engineering background. Remote-site duties with travel are expected; relocation support may be provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years in operations and maintenance, 3+ years in solar PV.
• Experience managing large-scale solar plants or similar facilities.
• Knowledge of PV technology, inverters, monitoring, and grid interconnection.
• Proven leadership of technical teams and contractors.
• Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations in energy.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day O&M of PV plants and ensure safe operations.
• Maximize energy generation and monitor plant performance.
• Develop maintenance strategies including preventive/corrective plans.
• Lead O&M teams, contractors, and service providers.
• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement for maintenance.
• Develop and manage the site operations budget.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and report on site performance.
