Job summary

Moss is seeking a Solar Electrical Assistant Superintendent to coordinate and supervise the electrical aspects of large utility solar projects across multi-state sites. You will work with the engineering team to ensure quality, safety, and schedule adherence while supporting field crews and subcontractors.

This exempt, full-time role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent), 2+ years MV experience, and 100% travel with rotations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years' experience with medium voltage equipment and cable.
• Experience on large self-perform projects.
• Proficiency in installation, testing, acceptance, maintenance, and repair of medium voltage cables.
• Knowledge of MV testing methods (Hi-pot, capacitance discharge, Megger, etc.).
• Working knowledge of electrical drawings, underground duct banks, trenching, manholes and vaults for distribution and collection systems.
• Current driver's license.
• 100% travel required with rotations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high-quality installation of electrical portions of the project, including the underground collections system.
• Support drawing reviews, submittals, and feedback with the engineering team to ensure conformance to specs.
• Assist in development of project schedules and look-ahead planning.
• Ensure resources and support for work teams.
• Support quality control of both self-performed and subcontracted work.
• Coordinate connection of the power grid to the distribution system.
• Supervise installation, splicing, and termination of fiber optic cables.
• Participate in project meetings and liaise between field engineers and contractors.
• Monitor subcontractor procurement, methods, staffing, and look-ahead schedules.
• Ensure transmission of plans, specs, submittals, and RFIs to subcontractors.
• Monitor safety, quality, and efficiency of subcontracted work.
• Coach and mentor field personnel and forepersons.
• Identify hiring needs and participate in hiring decisions.
• Develop leadership through task assignments and growth opportunities.
• Manage open shop and union issues.
• Maintain relationships with visitors (customers, architects, union reps, contractors).
• Run site work and logistics efficiently and suggest improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
