Job summary

First Solar, Inc. is seeking a Production Coater Technician I in Louisiana. This intermediate role covers the beginning of the manufacturing process, including coating applications for photovoltaic modules.

You will safely operate coating equipment, manage materials, and perform basic maintenance and quality checks while following safety and process controls. External candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, with preference for an associate degree or technical certificate and 2+

Qualifications

• Strong math skills for SPC concepts
• Capable of working in a team and communicating clearly
• Proficient with basic computer applications and equipment interfaces
• Able to operate and interpret machine control panels
• Comfort with mobile devices and simple tool interfaces
• Experience with hand and measurement tools
• Willing to perform light maintenance and basic equipment servicing
• Able to work in a large manufacturing space with supervision variances
• Forklift certification may be required

Responsibilities

• Safely operates and maintains tools and equipment to meet quality and productivity targets
• Completes required training on schedule
• Provides on-the-job training to teammates when needed
• Performs maintenance with hand tools and instrumentation
• Operates forklift and crane with proper training and certification when required
• Monitors process data and alarms to maintain process control
• Escalates issues with clear communication and recommendations
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams on problem-solving
• Collects data and prepares written or verbal reports as requested
• Maintains inventory and waste disposal procedures
• Adheres to safety standards and good housekeeping
