Position: Solar & BESS Technician II

This role reports to our site in Long Beach and is vital for ensuring AES CE operates to exceed industry standards. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, capable of following guidance from Field Service leads, and eager for professional growth as AES becomes a top IPP in the industry.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Manage assigned O&M activities at Energy Storage sites and associated substations.
2. Assist with corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance on equipment like inverters, transformers, battery modules, and collection systems.
3. Perform routine electrical troubleshooting, calibration, and basic inverter repairs as directed.
4. Prepare and execute switching of HV, MV, and LV equipment following safety procedures.
5. Follow LOTO procedures and safety permits for equipment clearance.
6. Operate electrical and mechanical power plant systems.
7. Participate in training, with possible travel.
8. Support operational and administrative duties for power plant maintenance.
9. Assist with vegetation management and documentation tasks.
10. Operate BESS facilities in compliance with NERC standards.
11. Ensure safety and environmental standards are met.
12. Work independently or in teams, demonstrating emotional intelligence and collaboration.

Desired Skills, Expertise, and Proficiencies:

• Knowledge of safety standards, electrical systems, and safety principles like LOTO.
• Proficiency with computers, SCADA, and CMMS preferred.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and technical skills.
• Fluency in English; Spanish and Portuguese are a plus.
• Understanding of safety and environmental regulations.
• Proactive problem-solving and commitment to professional growth.

Education / Experience:

• High school diploma or GED; technical degree and certifications preferred.
• 3+ years experience in power plants; energy storage experience is a plus.
• Basic electrical or mechanical knowledge desirable.

Working Conditions:

• Work may be outdoors in various weather conditions, at heights, and around hazardous materials.
• Physical activities include standing, walking, climbing, and lifting.
• Use of PPE required; overtime may be necessary.
