The AES Clean Energy Field Operations team seeks a BESS Technician with preventative and corrective maintenance experience. This role ensures AES CE operates to industry-leading standards, offering significant growth opportunities. The position is based in Alamitos BESS I and II, Long Beach, CA, requiring the candidate to live nearby for daily commuting.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Manage O&M activities at Energy Storage sites and substations related to utility-scale and distribution-scale energy storage.
2. Perform and assist with corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance on equipment such as inverters, transformers, battery modules, DC and AC collection and distribution systems.
3. Conduct electrical troubleshooting, instrumentation calibration, and basic inverter repairs as assigned.
4. Prepare and execute switching procedures for HV, MV, and LV equipment.
5. Follow safety procedures including LOTO, Job Safety Analysis, and permits.
6. Operate electrical and mechanical power plant systems.
7. Participate in required training, possibly involving travel.
8. Operate BESS facilities in compliance with NERC standards and report as required.
9. Perform technical and administrative duties related to plant operation and maintenance.
10. Ensure work meets environmental and safety standards.
11. Work independently or in teams based on skills and experience.
12. Demonstrate emotional intelligence and teamwork.

Desired Skills and Proficiencies:

1. Knowledge of safety standards and practices, including electrical safety principles like LOTO.
2. Experience with electrical systems, SCADA, and maintenance management software.
3. Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and integrity.
4. High energy, technical proficiency, and meticulousness.
5. Proficiency in English reading, writing, and understanding.
6. Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.

Education / Experience:

1. High school diploma or GED required.
2. Experience in energy storage system installation is a plus.
3. Basic electrical or mechanical skills, including control circuits and equipment operation, are advantageous.

Working Conditions:

1. Work outdoors in various environmental conditions, possibly at heights.
2. Require physical activity including standing, walking, climbing, and data collection.
3. Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory.
4. Work around energized equipment and hazardous materials may be required.
5. Occasional lifting and overtime work may be necessary.
6. Travel to other sites and call-out work may be required.
