Job summary

Verdantas is seeking a Soil Lab Technician for our Temecula, CA location. You will support geotechnical and environmental projects by ensuring accurate soil sampling, testing, and documentation, combining fieldwork with lab analysis to deliver reliable data for critical engineering decisions.

You’ll work with project managers, maintain equipment, and follow SOPs, safety protocols, and quality standards. This role offers growth opportunities outdoors and in the lab, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in geology or civil engineering is a plus.
  • 0–2 years in construction, geotechnical, or environmental fieldwork; prior exposure to soil testing or materials inspection is desirable.
  • ACI Concrete Certification.
  • Familiarity with soil and concrete testing methods.
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel; comfortable using tablets or digital reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Collect soil samples from field sites using appropriate sampling techniques.
  • Conduct field tests such as soil density, moisture content, and compaction.
  • Perform laboratory tests, including grain size analysis, Atterberg limits, and soil classification.
  • Record and analyze test data, ensuring accuracy and precision.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation of test results.
  • Maintain and calibrate field and laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and SOPs.
  • Assist in preparing project proposals and technical reports.
  • Communicate findings to the Project Manager/Supervisor.
