Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Software / System Safety Engineer II to join our System Safety team. The role emphasizes executing MIL-STD-882E safety analyses and integrating safety into software and systems engineering across the lifecycle of defense programs.

The candidate will collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines, prepare Safety Assessment Reports, and support program reviews. A DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one is required; relocation is eligible for this role.

Qualifications

• A STEM degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with MIL-STD-882E risk assessment concepts.
• Experience writing technical reports and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Participate in executing the Software System Safety Program.
• Perform MIL-STD-882 System Safety tasks and analyses across management, analysis, evaluation, and verification.
• Collaborate with software teams to review code and interfaces.
• Assist with Safety Assessment Reports and safety program briefs.
• Engage with program offices, customers, and vendors to align safety artifacts.
