Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking experienced System Safety and Software Safety Engineers to join an innovative team focused on safeguarding our defense systems. You will evaluate hazards, perform MIL-STD-882E analyses, and work with software, hardware, and systems teams from concept through deployment.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in safety engineering in aerospace or related fields, and an active DoD clearance is preferred.

Qualifications

Degree in STEM and 5+ years of aerospace/system safety experience.
Experience with MIL-STD-882E / DO-178 risk assessment concepts.
Experience with system safety in aerospace, automotive, or medical devices.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement MIL-STD-882E compliant safety programs (management, analysis, evaluation, verification).
Analyze engineering software/firmware per MIL-STD-882E and other standards.
Review software code with development teams.
Collaborate with PM and government authorities from startup to deployment.
Assist with software/firmware analyses and safety reviews.
Prepare Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs.
Interface with customers, subcontractors, and vendors.
Participate in cross-disciplinary design reviews.
