Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Principal Software Safety Engineer II to lead MIL-STD-882E compliant safety programs across management, analysis, evaluation, and verification, working onsite to support DoD contracts.

You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to safety reviews, coordinate with systems engineering, software, firmware, and government authorities to identify and mitigate hazards, and ensure safety requirements are met throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience with MIL-STD 882E risk assessment concepts.
• Experience writing technical reports and presentations.
• Experience managing a safety program and leading safety reviews.

Responsibilities

• Develop MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs (management, analysis, evaluation, verification).
• Coordinate safety tasks within the IMS and budget with program leadership.
• Mentor junior safety engineers and participate in design reviews and safety boards.
