Caterpillar Inc. in Irving, TX is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager (Software) to lead cross-functional delivery teams building MineStar products, ensuring quality, reliability, and measurable customer outcomes.

You will partner with Product Management, Architecture, UX and integration teams to align roadmaps, drive technical direction, and coach engineers toward growth while maintaining strong engineering discipline and security practices for scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Proven people leadership experience in a modern software engineering environment.
• Domain knowledge in mining technology and operational environments.
• Proven delivery leadership using Agile and DevOps with focus on reliability and customer value.
• Experience with Scrum, Kanban, Lean, SAFe and when to apply them pragmatically.
• Strong customer orientation and capability to shape technical strategy with product and business leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop engineers through clear expectations, regular feedback, performance management, and career growth plans.
• Build and sustain high-performing teams through hiring, onboarding, resource planning, and succession planning.
• Own delivery outcomes across one or more teams: predictable execution, transparent reporting, and risk/issue management.
• Embed a culture of built-in quality through testing, code review, SRE/operability, and continuous improvement.
• Define, track, and improve engineering metrics and use data to drive decisions.
• Partner with Product, UX, Architecture, and integration teams to align technical roadmap and feature delivery to customer strategy.
• Drive technical strategy, balancing new capability delivery with platform health, scalability, security, and debt reduction.
• Anticipate and mitigate delivery risks; resolve cross-team dependencies and remove impediments to flow.
• Maintain technical credibility across cloud, distributed systems, DevOps, security, mobile, data/analytics to guide decisions.
