Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense System seeks a Manager Software Engineer 1 to lead a 10–15 person team in the Mission Data Management Engineering unit. Located in Hollywood, MD or Manhattan Beach, CA, the role focuses on staffing, performance reviews, and career development in a fast-paced defense environment.

The position requires a DoD Secret clearance, strong software and engineering background, and proven leadership in Agile/SAFe contexts. Competitive salary and relocation support apply.

Qualifications

• BS or higher degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM), MIS, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering with Agile or SAFe methodologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to facilitate/mediate conflict resolution matters.
• Working knowledge of software engineering or systems engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 10–15 engineers within the Mission Planning department.
• Coordinate staffing, staffing plans, and performance reviews with HR.
• Deliver promotions recommendations, salary evaluations, and career guidance.
• Create and maintain forward-looking processes aligned to strategic goals.
