Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Software Engineering Manager in the United States, California, to lead a team delivering secure, scalable satellite ground communications software. You will drive cloud-native architecture, supervise engineers, and ensure alignment with system requirements, security, and program goals.

You will work hands-on in architecture and development, collaborating with MBSE, cybersecurity, and test teams to maintain traceability and quality.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering or related field.
• Experience with microservice architectures and backend service development.
• Experience implementing authentication/authorization (RBAC/ABAC, OAuth 2.0, JWT).
• Front-end development experience with TypeScript and modern tooling (Vite).
• Cloud delivery on at least one platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Proficiency with CI/CD, Git workflows, and automated testing.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end architecture and cloud-native implementation for multi-tenant AWS platform.
• Guide full-stack development, conduct code reviews, and mentor engineers.
• Manage line staffing, performance reviews, and career growth.
• Translate requirements into software architecture and development priorities.
• Collaborate with MBSE, Systems, Cybersecurity, and Test teams for traceability.
• Lead backend development in Python and API design.
• Oversee frontend components for scalable, accessible UI.
• Implement secure authentication/authorization across apps.
• Coordinate integration, deployment, and production support with DevSecOps.
• Identify risks and drive mitigation strategies.
• Evaluate new technologies for secure government missions.
