Job summary

Ascension is seeking an experienced engineering leader to guide a high-performing team in delivering secure, scalable Java microservices and cloud-native applications. You will set architectural direction, mentor engineers, and partner with product management to define technical roadmaps while balancing tech debt and timely delivery.

You will enforce rigorous engineering standards, oversee CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and incident response, ensuring high availability and robust security

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in software engineering, CS, or related field is required.
• 5+ years of leadership/management experience preferred.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.
• 3+ years leading engineering teams and delivery oversight.

• Oversee production health and incident response to maintain system availability and swiftly resolve root causes for operational issues.

Education

What minimum requirements you’ll need

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Programming or substantially related field is required.
• High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required.

Work Experience

• 3 years of experience required.
• 5 years of experience preferred.
• 1 year of leadership or management experience preferred.
• 3 years of experience required.
• 5 years of experience preferred.
• 1 year of leadership or management experience preferred.
• 8 years of software engineering experience developing enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
• 3 years of direct experience leading or managing technical engineering teams, including delivery oversight and technical decision-making.
• Documented experience building, deploying, or supporting scalable applications within a major public cloud platform (e.g., GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• Strong experience developing RESTful APIs and integrating Microservices using synchronous and asynchronous communication patterns
