Job summary

TrustedQA, Inc. is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to support a DoD program by maintaining and enhancing Java-based applications in a cloud environment.

You will work with the technical lead and team to troubleshoot issues and support modernization efforts while learning Python, APEX and AI-assisted development practices. The role expects a solid Java foundation, strong problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn new technologies.

Qualifications

• 1 year IT experience with a bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience with software development lifecycle
• Experience with Java software design, development, testing, and deployment
• Experience with web-based applications, client/server applications, or cloud-hosted systems
• Active DoD Secret clearance required

Job description

We are seeking a Junior Software Engineer to support a DoD program. The candidate will work with the technical lead and development team to maintain and enhance existing Java-based applications in the cloud environment, troubleshoot issues, and support ongoing development and modernization efforts. The position offers opportunities to learn Python, APEX and other application development tools, as well as gain hands‑on experience to AI-assisted development practices already being used by the team. Prior experience with AI technologies is not required, we are looking for someone with a solid Java foundation, strong problem‑solving skills, and a willingness to learn new technologies. The candidate will be a self‑starter, team‑player and will be expected to manage and complete their tasks in a fast‑paced results driven environment. The position is remote.

Basic Qualifications

• 1 Years IT experience with bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience with software development lifecycle
• Experience with Java software design, development, testing, and deployment
• Experience with web-based applications, client/server applications, or cloud-hosted systems
• Must have an active DoD Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with software development concepts and Agile methodologies
• Experience with common release tracking software (JIRA, Confluence)
• Experience with basic SQL
• Knowledge of AWS Cloud
• Knowledge of leveraging AI-assisted development tools, automated code generation, or AI-powered engineering capabilities

Salary Range

Salary Range: $85,000-$95,000

The range shown is a good‑faith estimate of base pay for this position, posted in accordance with applicable state and local pay transparency laws. Actual compensation is determined by qualification factors — including experience, education, certifications, and clearance level — as well as the customer‑approved labor category and rate for the contract, and the qualifications of the candidate ultimately selected.
