Job description

We are seeking a Senior Database Specialist to support a DoD program. The candidate will serve as a hands‑on contributor, responsible for database installation, administration, configuration, design, operation, sustainment, security, and continuous improvement of database environments. The candidate will bring deep expertise in Oracle database administration and cloud‑based services, with the ability to evaluate emerging technologies and translate them into practical, secure, and maintainable solutions. This role requires close collaboration with stakeholders, program leadership, and other internal and external stakeholders.

The candidate will be expected to manage and complete the tasks in a fast‑paced results driven environment. This position is primarily at the Pentagon, Arlington, VA (60%) and remote (40%).

Basic Qualification:

• BS or equivalent in Computer Science or related field and 10+ years of database administrator and development experience
• Experience administering and supporting Oracle RDMS in enterprise environments, including installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Oracle databases
• Experience managing database users, access controls, auditing and other database security functions
• Experience supporting large scale relational database in secure environments
• Develop and maintain scalable, secure solutions using data engineering principles and best practice
• Communicate technical solutions, findings, risks, recommendations, etc. clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Must have an active Interim Secret or Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting financial, budgeting, logistics or other enterprise business systems
• Knowledge of cloud environment, like AWS database, compute, storage, security, backup services, including AWS RDS, EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS DMS, etc.
• Knowledge with PostgreSQL
• Experience supporting DoD cybersecurity requirements, RMF processes, STIGs, security controls
• Experience with version control software (Git etc.), ticket tracking system (JIRA, etc.)
• Relevant Oracle, AWS, PostgreSQL, cloud or other database certifications

Salary Range: $123,000-$130,000 The range shown is a good‑faith estimate of base pay for this position, posted in accordance with applicable state and local pay transparency laws. Actual compensation is determined by qualification factors — including experience, education, certifications, and clearance level — as well as the customer-approved labor category and rate for the contract, and the qualifications of the candidate ultimately selected.
