Job summary

TrustedQA, Inc. is seeking an experienced AWS Software Engineer to design and implement cloud native services on AWS for a federal contract.

You will collaborate with product, data, and DevOps teams to build scalable backend systems that handle high data processing, rapid caching, and advanced search capabilities. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 3–5 years in AWS roles (Developer/Architect) with hybrid AWS projects.
• Experience with hybrid AWS architectures and migrating on-prem to AWS.

Responsibilities

Job description

TrustedQA is seeking an experienced AWS Software Engineer to provide expertise for a federal contract consisting of a large eco-system of highly integrated applications. You will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing cloud native services running in AWS working closely with the product, data and DevOps team to build and maintain scalable backend systems that handle high data processing, rapid caching and complex search capabilities.

This position requires you to be 2 days onsite in the Bethesda office.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and deploy robust, scalable, and secure microservices using Java on AWS.
• Architect and manage high-performance data systems, including NoSQL databases (e.g., Amazon DynamoDB, MongoDB) and distributed caching layers via Redis (Amazon ElastiCache).
• Implement and tune Elasticsearch (or Amazon OpenSearch) clusters for low-latency full-text search, data aggregation, and log analytics.
• Monitor system bottlenecks, optimize query performance across SQL/NoSQL and search platforms, and ensure high availability.
• Build applications within AWS using a hybrid approach of new and legacy components (e.g. new front-end/services with legacy database or other mix-and-match approaches) to best fit budget/scope/timeline constraints.
• Set up a functional model for seamless script promotion (CI/CD pipeline) from development to test, UAT, and production.
• Design stacks using Amazon CloudFormation templates to launch AWS infrastructure and resources.
• Use discovery tools to define and develop customer requirements and pricing models.
• Establish infrastructure using scripts, adhering to best practices, and incorporating AWS suggested templates for compliance with standards like NIST 800-53 and HIPAA.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 3 – 5 years' experience with a combination of AWS related roles such as working as an AWS Developer and AWS Architect.

Preferred Qualifications:

• AWS certifications, such as AWS Developer and AWS Architect
• Similar experience with migrating on-premises applications to AWS

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience with building applications within AWS using a hybrid approach of new and legacy components (e.g. new front-end/services with legacy database or other mix-and-match approaches) to best fit budget/scope/timeline constraints.
• Proficiency in Java (Spring Boot, microservices architecture)
• Hands-on experience designing and deploying production-grade applications on AWS core services (EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch)
• Proven experience implementing, configuring, and scaling Elasticsearch or Amazon OpenSearch for enterprise search applications.
• Solid understanding and practical experience with NoSQL databases and in-memory data stores/caching mechanisms like Redis
• Be proficient in setting up a functional model for seamless script promotion (CI/CD pipeline) from development to test, UAT, and production.
• Experience migrating/converting data from legacy applications to a new target application environment.
• Experience using discovery tools to define and develop customer requirements and pricing models.
• Solid understanding of data modelling fundamentals.
