Job summary

Wellmark invites motivated students to join the User Experience internship within our Technology Division in Des Moines, IA, starting May 2027. You will collaborate with UX Designers, Engineers, and stakeholders to design user-centered experiences across research, design, engineering, testing, and deployment.

You’ll support multiple projects, troubleshoot production issues, and develop business knowledge of applications to provide effective support and improvements.

Qualifications

• Current junior, senior or master's student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or related field.
• Experience or knowledge of software development technologies (Angular, NodeJS, TypeScript, C++, .NET, Java, or SQL).
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills with attention to detail and self-starter attitude.
• Excellent writing and communication skills to interact across levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day collaboration with leaders and teams, focusing on small-scale deliverables.
• Assist with management and troubleshooting of multiple applications in support of Wellmark's systems.
• Troubleshoot with Technology and business stakeholders to identify root causes of system errors.
• Develop business knowledge of applications to support maintenance and improvements.
• Develop complex UI artefacts used by multiple development teams and maintain code documentation.
