What position are we hiring for (and what will they do)?
We are looking for a Software Engineer III, Platforms & Integrations to join our team and build custom software solutions within third-party platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, and other SaaS ecosystems. This role is focused on extending the capabilities of these platforms through custom applications, features, and functionality, as well as connecting them with CTM's products and internal systems.
The person in this role should enjoy working within established platforms and finding ways to push beyond their out-of-the-box capabilities. You'll use your software development skills to build custom solutions, work with platform-specific tools and frameworks, and develop integrations that allow different systems to work together seamlessly. While experience with Salesforce or HubSpot is valuable, we're most interested in someone with strong engineering fundamentals who can build within a platform ecosystem and adapt those skills to new technologies.
As a successful Software Engineer III, Platforms & Integrations you will:
- Lead the design and implementation of moderately complex projects spanning multiple components, systems, or services
- Own projects from planning through implementation, launch, and follow-up, breaking complex work into manageable milestones and identifying dependencies, risks, and blockers
- Design, develop, and maintain custom applications, features, and functionality within third-party platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, and other SaaS ecosystems
- Build and maintain integrations between third-party platforms, CTM products, and internal systems, ensuring reliable data exchange and consistent behavior across services
- Extend platform capabilities through custom code, APIs, webhooks, automation, and other platform-specific tools and development patterns
- Evaluate platform capabilities and limitations to determine when to use native functionality, custom development, or external services to meet business needs
- Apply software engineering best practices to deliver secure, scalable, reliable, and maintainable solutions across different platforms and technologies
- Write clear, maintainable, and testable code while considering performance, security, reliability, and scalability
- Troubleshoot complex issues across custom code, integrations, data, and third-party platform behavior, identifying root causes and implementing lasting fixes
- Coordinate with Engineering, Product, and other stakeholders to move projects forward and ensure technical solutions meet business needs
- Communicate technical decisions, tradeoffs, project status, and risks clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
- Contribute to design reviews, code reviews, technical discussions, project planning, and improvements to engineering practices
- Mentor less-experienced engineers through pairing, code reviews, planning, and feedback.
- Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing while exploring new technologies and opportunities to improve our products and processes
- Take accountability for project outcomes while balancing delivery, reliability, security, maintainability, and customer impact
What skills will help you be effective on our team?
- 5+ years of software development experience, with a track record of building, testing, and maintaining software in a professional environment, or equivalent experience demonstrating the technical expertise expected at this level
- A BS in Computer Science, Math, or another analytical discipline is preferred, but not required
- Hands‑on experience developing custom functionality within at least one third‑party platform or SaaS ecosystem, such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or a comparable platform
- Experience extending platform capabilities through custom code, applications, components, workflows, or other platform‑specific development tools, rather than relying solely on configuration or administration
- Experience building integrations between platforms and external systems using REST/SOAP APIs, webhooks, authentication protocols, and other integration patterns
- Ability to learn new platforms, understand their architecture and development models, and apply existing software engineering skills across different ecosystems
- Understanding of data modeling, platform security, permissions, system limitations, testing, and deployment practices
- Experience with Git, source control, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong technical problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues across applications, integrations, and third‑party systems
- Project ownership and planning skills, with the ability to break ambiguous work into manageable milestones and drive projects through completion
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across Engineering, Product, and other teams
- Ability to identify and manage risks, dependencies, and changing priorities while keeping stakeholders informed
- A strong understanding of software quality, including testing, maintainability, reliability, security, and observability
- Ability to mentor and support other engineers while continuing to seek feedback and develop your own skills
- A passion for continuous improvement, emerging technologies, and finding practical ways to improve products, processes, and technical solutions
- Experience with Salesforce development tools such as Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and SOQL, or comparable development tools within other platforms
- Experience with Salesforce Voice with partner telephony, or similar communications‑platform integrations is a plus
- Prior experience with large‑scale web applications and a GitHub, Bitbucket, or GitLab portfolio
- Always hacking and exploring new technologies.
