Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Software Engineer II (Applications) to join a fast-paced, Agile team working on training and simulation product lines. You will plan, design, develop and test software for stand-alone, networked, cloud-based or internet-related tools, under mentoring from senior engineers.

The role emphasizes software lifecycle discipline, collaboration across teams, and delivering high-quality code with unit tests. Occasional travel may be required and ITAR compliance applies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering/science field or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of Windows or Linux application software development with OO design.
• Expertise in C# .Net, C++, or QT; Unity experience highly desirable.
• Experience writing unit tests and debugging code.
• Familiar with Agile software development and Scrum lifecycle.
• Knowledge of SVN or Git and common IDEs/debuggers.

Responsibilities

• Follow a defined software life cycle development process.
• Understand requirements and participate in design reviews.
• Create design documentation per process and guidance from seniors.
• Code to standards; write tests; validate software and improve processes.
• Deliver work on time per project schedule and budget.
• Support algorithm design from detailed requirements.
• Collaborate with multiple teams reusing software across programs.
• Provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Work on moderate scope problems and build relationships.
• Exercise judgment within defined procedures and take ownership.
