Job summary

Sorenson Communications, in Salt Lake City, UT, is seeking a software engineer to design, implement, and test high-performance video communication applications. You'll work with React, Node, TypeScript, JavaScript, C#, HTML, and CSS to build features and improve usability.

You will develop REST APIs in C# / Node.js, leverage AWS services, and participate in deployments and on-call support. A BS in CS/EE and 3+ years of experience are required, with a passion for learning new technologies.

Qualifications

• BS degree in CS, EE, or equivalent with excellent grades.
• 3+ years of experience developing state-of-the-art applications.
• Strong knowledge of React, TypeScript, JavaScript, C#, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience building REST APIs in C#, Node.js, or similar.
• AWS services knowledge; AWS Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and team leadership in design, implementation, and testing of high-performance video communication apps.
• Develop and test features in React, Node, TypeScript, JavaScript, C#, HTML, and CSS.
• Create innovative solutions to improve performance and usability.
• Follow engineering best practices and write automated tests.
• Support deployments and on-call escalation as needed.

Pay Range:

Actual pay may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for incentive compensation.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required

• Provide technical and team leadership in the design, implementation, and testing of high-performance, high-quality video communication applications
• Develop and test application features primarily in React, Node, TypeScript, JavaScript, C#, HTML, and CSS
• Create innovative solutions that increase application performance, and usability
• Implement standards-based communication protocols and related technologies including XML, JSON, HTTP, and REST
• Recommend new technologies or direction for product development
• Keep aggressive, attainable goals and time frames
• Drive standards-based architectures and supporting services
• Follow engineering best practices in a team environment to develop high-quality products including writing automated unit, component, and feature level testing
• Review and evaluate code written by peers
• Support production environments by participating in deployments, responding quickly to escalated issues, understanding that some of these events may happen during non-work hours
• Excellent software design and problem analysis skills with an ability to quickly learn new technologies and concepts
• Other duties as assigned

Experience/Education/Certifications

• BS degree in CS, EE, or equivalent with excellent grades
• 3+ years of experience developing state-of-the-art applications
• Strong knowledge of React, TypeScript, JavaScript, C#, HTML, and CSS
• Experience building applications with React, Angular, or Vue
• Experience building REST APIs in C#, Node.js, or similar
• Knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Route53, etc
• AWS Certification preferred
