Job summary

Sorenson Communications in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to plan, design and implement complex network solutions. You will document infrastructure, support production networks, and collaborate with Engineering and QA teams across Center operations.

The role requires 10 years of real-world experience with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and wireless/mobility, plus strong knowledge of Meraki, Nexus, SD-WAN and routing protocols. Occasional travel is required.

Qualifications

• 4-year or equivalent experience in network engineering and design.
• Experience with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and wireless mobility environments.
• Strong documentation and cross-team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and implement network technology projects.
• Manage multiple projects with strong time management.
• Document network infrastructure and roadmaps for teams.
• Troubleshoot and support production network environments.
• Serve on-call for production support on a rotating basis.
• Travel occasionally for deployments.

Pay Range

Actual pay may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for incentive compensation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and implement network technology related projects
• Strong time management skills to manage multiple projects and tasks
• Ensure future network related roadmap/strategy is sound
• Fully document network related infrastructure
• Support / troubleshoot network related infrastructure
• Be a resource for the Engineering and QA teams with their projects, troubleshooting and implementations to production
• Assist with other network and development projects as needed
• Serve on-call duties to support the network for one week approximately every 4-5 weeks
• After hours changes required on equipment that supports production
• Occasional travel for network installations

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

Education

Preferred 4 Year / Bachelors Degree equivalent experience will be considered.

Preferred Certification Cisco certifications a plus

Experience

10 years real world experience managing Cisco Routers, Switches, Firewalls and Wireless and Mobility environments

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Meraki, Nexus, SD-WAN, VPN, Routing & F5 load balancers (LTM/ASM/AFM/GTM) experience required
• BGP, EIGRP and other dynamic routing protocols experience required
• DHCP & DNS experience required
• TCP/UDP experience required
• Oracle Acme SBC and SIP protocol troubleshooting experience preferred
• VMware Experience a plus
• Excellent written and oral communication required
• Network Documentation: Lucid Chart (or similar), Power Point, Excel, Word, etc.
• Ability to manage Projects, Respond to Incidents and Service Requests

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

• Travel is required to support network project deployments to Call Centers, Data Centers and Training. (10% of time)
• Work Tools: Jira, Confluence, O365, Network monitoring tools etc.
• This position is full time 40- 50 hours per week with on call support. (Once every 4-5 weeks)
• Professional Office Setting: Employees enjoy working indoors in an environmentally controlled setting. Employees spend the majority of their time sitting at a desk in a quiet, confidential environment.
• This job requires consistent attendance and punctuality.
