Job summary

Sorenson Communications, LLC is seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to design, build, automate, and operate scalable, secure cloud infrastructure in our Salt Lake City team. You will own automation, IaC, and deployment pipelines in collaboration with Cloud Engineering, SRE, Security, and Software teams.

Ideal candidates have deep hands-on AWS, Terraform, and CI/CD experience, plus strong scripting skills and DevSecOps practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years of DevOps experience preferred.
• Strong hands-on expertise with AWS, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, Ansible, and scripting.

Responsibilities

• Develop, define, and implement pipelines to deploy infrastructure as code (IaC).
• Work with development teams to create full software deployment pipelines.
• Create automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Develop IaC scripts with Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Support code versioning with Git and manage configurations with Ansible.
• Migrate on-prem workloads to secure, highly available public cloud environments.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting across systems.
• Coordinate with Security to manage cloud security policies.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and document designs and diagnostics.
• Provide rotating on-call support and mentorship to team members.

Job Summary

Sorenson Communications is looking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team and help design, build, automate, and operate scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure and delivery platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, Ansible, Git-based version control systems, scripting, and automation. This is a senior-level, hands‑on role requiring strong technical ownership, automation expertise, and a solid understanding of modern DevSecOps practices. They will work closely with Cloud Engineering, Software Engineering, SRE, Security and Operations teams to improve the reliability, repeatability, security, and speed of infrastructure and application delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop, define, and implement pipelines to deploying infrastructure as code (IaC).
• Work with our development teams to create full software deployment pipelines
• Create complex automation scripts tasks using Python (preferred), Powershell, Bash.
• Create Infrastructure as Code scripts using Terraform and Cloudformation.
• Support versioning of code using Git
• Create repeatable configurations using Ansible
• Use expertise when migrating On-Premise workloads to Public Cloud environments in a secure and highly available method.
• Implement Enterprise Monitoring, Sys-logging, or other alerting systems on all required system components.
• Coordinate with the Security Team to manage cloud security policies.
• Troubleshoot complex system and technical issues and decisions on developing solutions.
• Document system designs and diagnostic processes
• Providing rotational on-call support
• Handles complex issues and problems
• Providing coaching or mentoring to other team members.
• Perform miscellaneous duties, working on project teams, and ad hoc assignments as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

Education

Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other technical field required, or, equivalent work experience.

AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional

AWS Certified Developer

AWS Certified SysOps Administrator

8 years as a DevOps Engineer

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience with Linux or Windows servers
• Expertise using configuration management tools such as Ansible (preferred) or Salt.
• Experience with DevSecOps practices.
• Experience integrating security and vulnerability scanning into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working in Agile, Scrum, or Kanban environments.
• Expert knowledge building Continuous Integration and Deployment tools such as Git, Azure Pipelines or Jenkins
• Expertise writing automation scripts using Python (preferred), Powershell, Bash.
• Expertise using Git in a multi-team environment
• Expert knowledge with IaC coding languages such as Terraform (preferred), AWSCloudformation and AWS-CLI.
• Containerization experience with Docker and Kubernetes, administration experience a plus
• Ability to perform work with a high degree of latitude
• Very comfortable with scope and context switching to meet business needs.
• Understanding of security fundamentals.
• Experience in a regulated industry a plus.
• Experience with on-premise migrations to public cloud systems.
