Job summary

Enlighten is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to design, develop, and implement Java-based software for enterprise systems. You will work with a collaborative team to deliver robust solutions and stay current with modern tools and technologies.

The role emphasizes integrating autonomous AI agents, multi-file feature delivery, and secure architecture. A hybrid work setup includes 1–2 days weekly at the Columbia, MD office, with strong focus on code quality and cybersecurity.

Qualifications

• Clearance eligibility required; U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite.
• 5+ years of software engineering with modern Java frameworks.
• Design enterprise APIs and RESTful services; use microservices.
• Proficiency with Linux, Git, Maven and related tooling.
• Experience integrating AI agents in software workflows (Claude Code / Gemini).

Responsibilities

• Develop Java-based software capabilities for enterprise systems.
• Design, develop, and test software with modern tools and frameworks.
• Integrate AI agents into daily engineering workflows and multi-file features.
• Refactor code across multi-repo architectures with secure, performant outputs.
