Raydar is recruiting on behalf of a fast-growing software company for a backend-focused role. You will design scalable backend services and APIs, connect to legacy systems, and optimize performance in a high-velocity release environment.
You will also build front-end applications that consume our APIs, ensure robust testing, and research new integrations to handle diverse system quirks.
About the company
Our client is a fast-growing software company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Design and build high-volume backend services and supporting front-end applications for a software platform. The work covers API design, connections to older systems, performance tuning and quality automation, in a setting where releases are frequent and customer input shapes priorities.
What you’ll do
Design scalable, generic solutions that let many different external systems be accessed through one consistent interface.
Build secure, reliable connections to older on-premises systems, adding real-time communication where it is not natively available.
Develop backend services that handle a large daily volume of API requests, with efficient data storage, retrieval and caching to keep latency low.
Release code frequently and iterate quickly using direct input from customers.
Put automated test coverage in place that surfaces unusual cases and regressions across a large set of endpoints.
Build front-end applications that consume the company’s own APIs, and use that experience to improve API design.
Research each new integration in depth, since every system has its own quirks and challenges.
What we’re looking for
An undergraduate computer science degree from a highly ranked US or Canadian school, not a bootcamp; candidates with a degree from elsewhere need a computer science master’s from a highly ranked US or Canadian school plus experience at a top-tier company.
Clear signs of excellence, such as a strong school, standout results at a reputable startup, or other notable accomplishments.
Recent experience at a small, early-stage technology startup, with only limited time at later-stage or public companies.
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure such as AWS.
Genuine interest in backend and systems engineering rather than a main focus on working in AI.
A driven, independent and humble working style, taking real ownership and enjoying a fast-paced team while helping build a strong engineering culture.
