Job summary

raydar is seeking a senior backend engineer to own the design and delivery of backend services and APIs, collaborating with peers on integrations and cross-functional features. You will keep core systems reliable and performant as usage grows, while raising engineering standards across teams.

You will scope, design and build resilient services, work on integrations, and improve existing pipelines. The role emphasizes tackling defects, performance bottlenecks and enabling data-driven decisions

Qualifications

• At least six years of hands-on experience shipping and running production software at scale.
• Strong backend and third-party API experience, with willingness to work across the stack when needed.
• A record of taking products from zero to one, including AI features running in production.
• A career spent mostly at startups, with recent time at an AI-focused company.
• Experience with asynchronous message queue systems.
• Experience with MongoDB or a similar document database.
• Comfort with data modeling, ETL pipelines and streamlining how data is structured.
• If Node.js is not your main language, evidence of picking up new languages and stacks quickly in early-stage settings.
• Experience working directly with clients or non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to explain technical matters in business terms.
• Pragmatic problem solving and the ability to thrive amid shifting priorities.
• Interest in AI and machine learning.
• Based in North America or Western Europe.
