Job summary

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) is seeking a Manager, Software Development to lead a team of software engineers and QA professionals in delivering mission-critical energy management software. You will drive roadmaps, coordinate testing and deployments, and ensure adherence to IT best practices.

Based in Rensselaer, NY, this role requires onsite presence several days per week with a remote option. A comprehensive benefits package and competitive salary are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/EE/Math or related field.
• Seven+ years of progressively responsible software development/technical leadership experience.
• Two+ years leading a team of software developers or technical specialists.
• Three+ years in mission-critical/enterprise IT environments.
• Five+ years in a full software development lifecycle.
• Experience with multi-year upgrade planning and execution.
• Experience leading migration and modernization of legacy technologies.
• Energy industry experience is highly desired but not required.

Responsibilities

• Direct a staff of Software Engineers and QA professionals across the SDLC.
• Lead product development roadmaps and collaborate with stakeholders.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering staff.
• Coordinate with IT teams to define tests, deployment plans, and documentation.
• Ensure software quality and adherence to ITIL processes and security practices.
• Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and strategic IT goals.
• Oversee on-call rotations and 24x7 support for critical applications.
• Support modernization and integration of enterprise software across NYISO systems.
