Job summary

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) invites applications for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Information Technology team, focusing on advanced Python development for power-system modeling and data transformation.

You will mentor staff in AI-augmented programming, integrate APIs from tools, support DevOps pipelines, and ensure cybersecurity standards while delivering reliable software across engineering workflows. The position is onsite in Rensselaer, NY with some remote days.

Qualifications

BS in Computer Science or Information Systems preferred.
3+ years in DevOps and Python solutions.
Proficiency with NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib.
Experience with API integration across platforms.
Knowledge of power system modeling desired.
Familiarity with CI/CD and Git.
On-call rotation willingness.
Data analytics/BI experience preferred.
MATLAB experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and support maintenance of Python-based tools for power system simulation, data processing, and visualization.
Lead the integration of Python APIs and scripts into internal workflows.
Develop automated testing, deployment, and monitoring solutions for various systems.
Elicit system requirements from business owners.
Collaborate with teams to implement and optimize DevOps pipelines.
