Job summary

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) is seeking a Manager, Software Development to lead the EMS BMS Technologies team and oversee software lifecycle, testing, and maintenance of critical energy management systems. This role partners with IT, Product and Project Management to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality software changes.

You will manage a team of ~10 engineers and QA professionals, drive roadmaps, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate cross-functional initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a related field.
• Minimum seven years of software development/IT leadership experience.
• Minimum two years leading a team of software developers or technical specialists.
• Minimum three years in a mission critical/enterprise IT environment.
• Minimum five years in a full software development lifecycle environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a staff of approximately 10 Software Engineers and QA professionals with budget impact.
• Develop and own product development roadmaps considering regulatory requirements and strategy.
• Recruit, develop and retain technical staff and build bench strength.
• Mentor direct reports and manage professional development.
• Collaborate with other managers to ensure compatibility with other software and coordinate efforts.
• Define scope, review requirements and design specifications with business analysts and customers.
• Own and manage development and testing activities for all team projects.
• Manage on-call rotation for 24x7 operations and oversee incident management.
• Develop IT strategic goals and maintain IT roadmaps and metrics for senior management.
• Oversee vendor relationships and negotiate favorable terms with procurement.
