Job summary

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) invites applications for a full-time Operations Engineering Engineer to support reliability studies and system protection coordination from its Rensselaer location with hybrid work options.

The engineer will develop analyses, advise on policy changes, and participate in industry committees to ensure safe, reliable operation of NYISO’s transmission and generation resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with power systems focus; Master’s preferred.
• Two years of related industry experience; ability to use power system tools.
• Knowledge of NERC/NPCC standards and power system modeling.

Responsibilities

• Perform system studies such as seasonal operating studies and inter-regional analyses.
• Support VSS and Black Start activities and act as SME for department processes.
• Review events and ensure compliance with standards and rules.
• Maintain detailed NYCA power system models in IDC and coordinate data mappings.
• Provide technical oversight to Associate Engineers and participate in committees.
