Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Seattle is seeking a Software Development Engineer to help build the next generation of Building Connectivity Software Systems in BCE.

You will design services, define designs, and implement them on AWS with a focus on reliability and scalability. You will collaborate with network engineers, render configurations from models, and own production services, including metrics, alarms, runbooks, and on-call responsibilities as part of a fast-moving AWS Networking

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years designing or architecting new and existing systems.
• 1+ years of SDE or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years designing and developing large-scale distributed software using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software language.

Responsibilities

• Design and build services in AWS (Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, EventBridge, CDK).
• Write the design document for what you build; design reviews are a core part of the job.
• Integrate with AWS Networking systems and document contracts with real service behavior.
• Prove correctness in shadow mode and minimize discrepancies before cutover.
• Own production services: metrics, alarms, runbooks, and on-call rotation.
• Keep fabric knowledge out of code; model-driven configuration changes for new fabrics.
• Estimate work honestly and raise partner asks early.
