Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in the United States (Denver, CO) is seeking a Software Development Engineer to design, build, and operate a mission-critical, multi-tenant platform managing large-scale embedded devices.

The role focuses on distributed systems, security engineering, and fleet operations, with a US citizenship and active TS/SCI clearance required. You’ll join a high-reliability team delivering scalable cryptographic trust and secure data isolation across environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture for new/existing systems.
• 2+ years in at least one system programming language (C, C++, or Rust).
• Strong background in security-hardened system design (PKI, mutual TLS, cryptographic signing).
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases with RLS and policy-based access control.
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain cryptographic trust infrastructure with multiple CA hierarchies and offline validation for disconnected environments.
• Implement multi-tenant data isolation using ABAC, row-level security, and transparent query rewriting for many tenants over 5 years.
• Develop cryptographic integrity mechanisms for configuration and audit data, including chained signatures and tamper-evident logging.
• Engineer emergency access workflows with time-bounded credentials, multi-party approval, and segregated audit trails.
• Ensure all cryptographic operations use FIPS 140-2 Level 3 validated KMS with strict key isolation boundaries.
• Design reconciliation protocols with edge devices as source of truth while backends maintain synchronized projections.
