Job summary

Amazon's HyperPlane team within AWS is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a 14‑person engineering team responsible for scalable, highly available control‑plane services for HyperPlane and EC2 Networking. You will drive technical direction for scaling and placement, and ensure reliable operations at massive scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
• 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of 14 engineers building and operating high-availability control-plane services.
• Set the technical direction for scaling, placement, heat management, and disruption mitigation across the BigMac fleet.
• Drive the migration to the next generation of attachment management and improve attachment scalability.
• Partner closely with EC2 Networking (EC2N) teams, owning the interaction between the control plane and the services that depend on it.
• Deliver real customer value while raising the bar on operational excellence.
