Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join the EKS KCP Scalability team, tackling the hardest distributed systems problems and helping customers from startups to AI/ML workloads experience reliable control planes.

You will design, build, and operate end-to-end systems across the stack—from the Kubernetes API server to autoscaling services and SLA measurement pipelines—owning outcomes over code.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of OO design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate the Vertical Auto-Scaling Service (VAS) and its successor to right-size EKS control planes in real time.
• Contribute to the SLA measurement pipeline to enforce uptime commitments and detect degradation before customers notice.
• Engage with the upstream Kubernetes community and drive KEPs aligned with customer requirements on performance and scale.
• Work across the full stack from API server to autoscaling services and production operations.
