Job summary

LawDepot is hiring a Software Development Manager to lead the contract platform and CMS editor teams, guiding technical direction and people management. You will coach engineers, align with Product and stakeholders, and shape AI-enabled delivery practices to improve quality and outcomes.

This full-time, permanent role offers hybrid Work arrangements from Canada and opportunities to advance engineering practices, architecture decisions, and delivery excellence across product platforms.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Computing Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 2+ years leading software development teams and supporting developer performance, growth, and delivery.
• 7+ years in software development, architecture, or technical delivery.
• Experience managing projects, processes, priorities, and technical delivery in a software development environment.
• Strong technical judgment across web applications, APIs, data models, automated testing, CI/CD, security, and production troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience using AI platforms, agents, or related tools in real software engineering work.
• Ability to validate AI-generated output, identify risks, and coach others on where human judgment is required.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to connect technical decisions to company priorities and operational outcomes.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional business stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain trade-offs, negotiate scope, and align stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Agile processes and cross-functional software delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead software developers and Scrum Masters to deliver high-impact platform and CMS solutions.
• Set clear expectations, coach team members, and foster shared ownership of delivery and quality.
• Partner with Product Owners to develop strategy and technical roadmaps.
• Remove delivery obstacles and keep teams focused on value-driven work.
• Translate technical risks into business language for stakeholders.
• Make architecture and technology decisions aligned with scalability.
• Manage schedules, estimates, dependencies, risks, and delivery commitments.
• Identify practical AI uses to improve team efficiency and outcomes.
• Coach on AI-assisted engineering practices and proper validation.
• Strengthen practices around web apps, APIs, data models, testing, CI/CD, security, and production troubleshooting.
• Manage releases, rollout readiness, incident response, and code hygiene.
• Enable website experimentation with clear success metrics and operational readiness.
• Support hiring, onboarding, and day-to-day management to sustain a high-performing team.
