Job summary

Consilio LLC seeks a hands-on Director of Software Development to lead engineers building AI-enabled legal automation platforms governing end-to-end lifecycle of legal operations, including subpoenas and data requests.

This role blends technical direction, architecture reviews, delivery ownership, and people management across inshore and offshore teams, partnering with product, legal ops experts, and leadership to translate complex workflows into scalable, secure AI solutions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience with 4+ years in hands-on engineering leadership
• Experience building and leading distributed onshore/inshore and offshore teams
• Strong hands-on technical ability and ability to review code
• Proven track record delivering multi-tenant web-based enterprise software
• Experience with REST APIs, relational databases, cloud infrastructure, multi-tenant security
• Solid Agile/Scrum delivery experience and stakeholder communication
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership, reviews, and coding when needed
• Set and enforce engineering standards for quality, testing, security, and documentation
• Own the platform’s technical roadmap including AI-enabled capabilities
• Evaluate new technologies and AI/ML tooling to improve velocity and reliability
• Translate business/legal requirements into technical designs and epics
• Lead agile ceremonies and manage delivery against roadmap milestones
• Ensure production reliability, performance, and security across the platform
• Collaborate with product, legal operations, and leadership to shape the roadmap
• Manage a blended onshore/offshore team with clear communication norms
