Job summary

Amentum in Houston, TX, is seeking a Softgoods Engineering Technologist to join the team supporting NASA's exploration programs. The role focuses on designing, fabricating, and testing innovative softgoods for advanced space suits and related items.

You will work with engineers and technicians, develop patterns, interpret fabrication drawings, and help advance space suit technologies. The position involves travel to NASA centers and contractors and requires hands-on fabrication skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in a soft goods development lab environment with emphasis in soft goods design and fabrication.
• Ability to devise solutions to complex design challenges independently and with inputs from experts.
• Proficiency with CAD programs and software such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office.
• Experience in Adobe Illustrator, AutoCAD, and Rhino 8.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, fabricate, and test softgoods articles for advanced space suits.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers to understand project requirements.
• Create patterns and mockups to verify fit and function.
• Interpret fabrication drawings to assemble sewn products.
• Document design work and explore new materials and techniques.
• Travel to NASA centers or contractors as needed.
