Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Softgoods Engineering Technologist to support NASA’s deep space exploration initiatives under the JETSII Contract with Oceaneering. The role focuses on designing softgoods for stowage, thermal blankets, and space suit equipment, with hands-on fabrication and pattern development.

Responsibilities include creating mockups, collaborating with engineers, interpreting drawings, and occasionally traveling to NASA centers for fabrication and installation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a softgoods environment or related field.
• 3+ years in a softgoods lab with design and fabrication focus.
• Ability to independently devise solutions and seek inputs from experts.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and fabricate softgoods for spaceflight programs.
• Present design concepts clearly and collaborate with engineers.
• Prepare patterns and mockups to verify fit and function.
• Interpret fabrication drawings and review them for flight fabrication.
• Travel to NASA centers for fabrication and installation as needed
