Job summary

Performance Contracting, Inc. seeks an experienced Soft Crafts Estimator for its Houston branch #115, based in Pasadena, TX.

The role covers soft crafts estimating including scaffolding, insulation, and coatings, with responsibilities spanning takeoffs, labor productivity, vendor pricing, and subcontractor bids. This safety-sensitive position requires 2+ years estimating construction projects, strong client relationships, and proficiency with Takeoff and estimating software plus MS Office,

Qualifications

At least 2 years' experience estimating construction projects.
Experience with estimating or managing specialty scopes of construction.
Ability to read, understand, and interpret specifications and drawings for PCI's scopes of work.
Has a record of establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships.
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills.
Possess a high level of attention to detail and cost analysis skills.
Ability to read project schedules to determine sequencing and durations of scopes of work.
Proficient with computer takeoff and estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff and Quick Bid.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (e.g., Excel, Word), Bluebeam Revu, Procore, or PlanSwift.
Must have a sharp understanding of estimating techniques and the bidding process.
Ability to work effectively both in a collaborative team environment and independently.
Possess critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Perform quantitative takeoffs on construction projects.
Establish labor productivities for estimate.
Maintain positive relationships with area vendors for competitive material and equipment pricing.
Solicit subcontractor pricing for work done outside of our self-performing group.
Understand market conditions including competitive approach, backlog, level of risk for work, and other factors for establishing margin percentages.
Involvement in internal bid reviews with supervisors and project teams.
Participate in customer alignment objectives by creating and maintaining positive customer relations.
Contract administration for secured projects.
Utilize wage and benefit schedules.
Hand off secured projects to the Operations team.
Assist in other duties as assigned such as change order management or billings depending on the project(s).
Support other members of the Estimating team for product line collaboration.
