Job summary

Performance Contracting, Inc. seeks an experienced Soft Crafts Estimator for its Houston branch #115, based in Pasadena, TX.

The role covers soft crafts estimating including scaffolding, insulation, and coatings, with responsibilities spanning takeoffs, labor productivity, vendor pricing, and subcontractor bids. This safety-sensitive position requires 2+ years estimating construction projects, strong client relationships, and proficiency with Takeoff and estimating software plus MS Office,

Qualifications

• At least 2 years' experience estimating construction projects.
• Experience with estimating or managing specialty scopes of construction.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret specifications and drawings for PCI's scopes of work.
• Has a record of establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills.
• Possess a high level of attention to detail and cost analysis skills.
• Ability to read project schedules to determine sequencing and durations of scopes of work.
• Proficient with computer takeoff and estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff and Quick Bid.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (e.g., Excel, Word), Bluebeam Revu, Procore, or PlanSwift.
• Must have a sharp understanding of estimating techniques and the bidding process.
• Ability to work effectively both in a collaborative team environment and independently.
• Possess critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantitative takeoffs on construction projects.
• Establish labor productivities for estimate.
• Maintain positive relationships with area vendors for competitive material and equipment pricing.
• Solicit subcontractor pricing for work done outside of our self-performing group.
• Understand market conditions including competitive approach, backlog, level of risk for work, and other factors for establishing margin percentages.
• Involvement in internal bid reviews with supervisors and project teams.
• Participate in customer alignment objectives by creating and maintaining positive customer relations.
• Contract administration for secured projects.
• Utilize wage and benefit schedules.
• Hand off secured projects to the Operations team.
• Assist in other duties as assigned such as change order management or billings depending on the project(s).
• Support other members of the Estimating team for product line collaboration.

Job Description

Performance Contracting is seeking an experienced Soft Crafts Estimator for its Houston branch #115 operations based in Pasadena, TX. This individual will be responsible for soft crafts estimating, including scaffolding, insulation, and coatings.

• Proficiency with computer takeoff and estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff and Quick Bid
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (e.g., Excel, Word), Bluebeam Revu, Procore, or PlanSwift
• Must have a sharp understanding of estimating techniques and the bidding process
• Ability to work effectively both in a collaborative team environment and independently
• Ability to learn new skills by engaging in technical job functions and applying new skills as they're learned
• Possess critical-thinking and problem-solving skills

Preferred Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, or related discipline
• Experience with estimating scaffolding, insulation, and coatings scopes of work.
• OSHA certification
• Experience working with union representatives
• Local to the Houston area.
