Job summary

Fresno City College is seeking a Sociology Instructor for a part-time pool to teach sociology courses across face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats.

The role emphasizes diverse student engagement, equity-minded teaching, and adherence to the college’s curriculum outlines. Instructors will communicate with students, faculty, and staff and manage grading and records per district policy.

Qualifications

• Evidence of responsiveness to diverse backgrounds and equity-minded teaching
• Master’s in sociology or Bachelor’s in sociology with relevant Master’s in anthropology/ethnicity studies/social work/psychology
• Possession of or petition for equivalency as needed
• California Community College Credential or equivalent education/experience

Responsibilities

• Teach a part-time schedule of sociology courses.
• Use varied pedagogies and innovative technology for face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid formats.
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
• Adhere to institution-approved curriculum outlines.
• Evaluate student progress via tests, assignments, and other assessments.
• Provide syllabi and maintain classroom records as policy dictates.
• Submit grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner.
• Teach in multiple instructional settings and times.
• Fulfill duties per Administrative Regulation 7122.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
